Tom Wilkinson, a British actor nominated for an Oscar, is known for his roles in Full Monty, Michael Clayton, and the best exotic marigold hotels. He was 75 years old.
A statement shared by his agent on behalf of his family said Wilkinson suddenly died at home on Saturday. Details were not provided.

Wilkinson was nominated for his best actor Academy Award for his work in the 2001 family drama “IN THE BEDROOM” and his best support actor category in the 2007 legal slur “Michael Clayton.”.
Many people remember him as former steel mill foreman Gerald Cooper in the 1997 comedy “The Full Monty,” about a group of unemployed steel workers who created an odd male stripping act.
Wilkinson was born in 1948 in Yorkshire, northern England, and spent a portion of his boyhood in Canada. In the 1970s, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He starred in ratings for more TV shows and films, including “Rush Hour” and “Batman Begins,” as well as “Shakespeare in Love,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” and “Valkyrie.”
He most recently appeared in a Disney+ series called “Full Monty” alongside his “Full Monty” co-stars Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy.
“He’ll be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working with him,” stated Carlyle in a statement. “Such a huge performer, a real titan of an actor, one of the greats of not only his but of any generation.”
In 2005, Wilkinson was honored for his contributions to drama with his appointment as a member of the Order of the British Empire.
His portrayal of Benjamin Franklin in the HBO series “John Adams” earned him a Golden Globe in 2009 and an Emmy in 2008.
He married actress Diana Hardcastle in 1988, and they have two daughters.
