Cher has requested that her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman be placed under conservatorship owing to substance misuse and mental health difficulties. According to records obtained by People from Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, the singer is requesting to be the sole conservator of her son’s estate since he is substantially unable to manage his financial resources.
The filing states that there is an “urgent need…” for a conservator to protect Eliza’s assets from harm or injury, explaining that she is “currently protecting her assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues. Unable to manage.
“Eliza is entitled to regular distributions from the trust, but given her ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Eliza will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Eliza with no money. “Having no assets to provide for herself and putting Elijah’s life in danger,” the document reads, according to People.

It continues on to say that Allman’s ex-wife, Marie Angela King, is unable to be his conservator because “their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”
The filing follows reports earlier this year that Cher hired four men to kidnap her son to prevent him from reconciling with King. The singer responded to the rumors in a statement to People, confirming that it is “not true.”
In September, there were claims in newly revealed divorce papers about Allman, Cher’s son, and his wife. The documents say they filed for divorce in 2021, but in Nov. 2022, they reportedly got back together for 12 days. On their anniversary, Nov. 30, four men supposedly took Allman from their New York hotel room.
On December 4, 2022, King issued a declaration in which she stated, I am currently unaware of my husband’s wellbeing or whereabouts. I am deeply concerned about him. She also stated that one of the four guys stated that they were hired by the petitioner’s mother, adding, Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to [Allman], who is currently in lockdown at an undisclosed treatment facility. I’m also told [Allman] doesn’t have access to his phone.

Cher refuses to comment further on the purported kidnapping after denying it. She did, however, make an additional statement about her son’s long history of substance misuse.

You will go to any length for your children. You basically do anything you can to help them, because that’s what being a mother entails.
