Suri Cruise, Katie Holmes’ daughter, dropped her father’s last name while performing in a recent high school play.
Suri, who turned 18 on April 18, used her mother’s middle name instead of “Cruise” on a casting sheet for her school production of Head Over Heels, based on the Broadway musical. Her name was listed as “Suri Noelle.” The full name of the Alone Together star is Kate Noelle Holmes.

It’s unclear why the aspiring actress made this decision. Suri doesn’t have her own middle name.
Katie, 45, gave birth to Suri in April 2006, exactly seven months after her Italian wedding to Tom, 61, on November 18, 2006.
The Dawson’s Creek alum said in June 2005 that she was studying Tom’s religion, the Church of Scientology, when they started dating.

Katie surprised the world by filing for divorce from the Top Gun star in June 2012, moving to New York City with Suri, and getting their own apartment. Katie returned to her Catholic roots in July 2012, when she became a parishioner at the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City.
When confirming their breakup, the former couple implied religion could have been a factor, adding, “We want to keep matters affecting our family private, express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs, and support each other’s roles as parents.”
Suri’s final public photo with Tom was taken in September 2013. The two are estranged and do not have a connection.
Katie reared their child in New York City, where she went to an excellent private school. Fans have seen Suri mature as she was photographed out and about with her friends on a regular basis during her adolescence, grabbing coffee, shopping, and doing other activities.
“That period was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a small child on top of that,” Katie told InStyle about her divorce in March 2020. “We had some humorous moments in public. So many individuals I didn’t know became friends and helped us out, which is what I like about the city.
“Suri’s parents may be famous, and she may be photographed a lot, but she’s still a very grounded girl,” a source told In Touch in 2019. “She enjoys hanging out with her friends, listening to music, dancing, watching TikTok videos, and following her favorite social media stars.” And, of course, discussing the cute boys they prefer.”
In an April 2023 interview with Glamour, the Batman Begins star revealed a rare update on Suri. “What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is that I really like to protect her.”
“I’m very grateful to be a parent—to be her parent,” Katie said. “She’s an incredible person.”

Tom Cruise children
Tom Cruise has three children from three marriages. The youngest is Tom’s 18-year-old daughter, Suri, from his third wife, actress Katie Holmes. Tom and Katie were married from 2006 to 2012, and Suri was born the same year. However, due to Katie’s objections to Tom’s belief in Scientology, a religious cult, the couple acrimoniously divorced. Katie and Suri have not seen Tom since their separation.
According to a 2023 report, Suri has not seen his father for almost a decade, and there is no communication between the two. According to TMZ, Suri doesn’t answer the phone when Tom calls. “He doesn’t care about Katie or Suri, and his daughter doesn’t want to trust him with anything,” the Daily Mail reports.
When Suri removed Tom’s surname
Growing up, Suri became known as Suri Cruise or Suri Holmes Cruise. However, since his 18th birthday in April, the aspiring musician has distanced himself from his father. Last week, Hello Magazine claimed that Suri had enrolled as Suri Noel for her school’s musical production and used her mother’s middle name as her last name.
