The Rick and Morty season 7 finale hits TV this Sunday, and we feel like this season has flown by fast. It took surprisingly less time to reach number one than we expected, given the show was in disarray after co-creator Justin Roiland was fired in January following domestic assault allegations. Justin Roiland’s departure meant not only changing creative elements of the show but also a major voice actor.
Yes, that is correct. We have new voice actors for Season 7. Ian Cardoni is now the voice of Rick Sanchez, and Harry Belden is the voice of Morty Smith, both of whom were previously voiced by Roiland. They join three returning main cast members: Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith, Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith, and Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith.
I’ve been watching this season, and to be honest, the voice actor changes have been fairly seamless. There have been some legitimate complaints about the show’s episodes in terms of story—tthough I’ve personally been pleased with most of them so far, and fan sentiment has shifted as the season has progressed—bbut the voice acting has not been an issue.

Story-wise, we potentially got a preview of what to expect in Rick and Morty season 7 in the final episode of season 6. In that episode, Rick talks about “Rick and Morty season seven.” Doing that, juggling plates—not every episode, Morty—it can all happen in the background. Who knows?”
